pneu·ma - the life-giving, creative, Spirit-breath of God.
The Pneuma Ministerial Association provides ministry licensure, ordination and spiritual covering for each of the five-fold ministry callings, with a focus on those leading conventional as well as unconventional and innovative ministries.
Levels of Involvement
The Pneuma Ministerial Association offers various levels of involvement and recognition for ministry leaders, including affiliation, licensure, and ordination. Each category serves a distinct purpose, tailored to different stages and roles within ministry:
1. Affiliation
Purpose: This level is for individuals, churches, and ministries seeking to align with the values, vision, and network of the Pneuma Ministerial Association without formal licensure or ordination of an individual.
Key Benefits: Affiliation provides access to specific resources, training, networking opportunities, and spiritual covering. It allows individuals and organizations to benefit from the shared knowledge and support of the association while continuing to operate according to their own values and priorities.
Commitment: Those who affiliate complete orientation training and agree to uphold the doctrinal beliefs and core values of the Pneuma Ministerial Association.
2. Licensure
Purpose: Licensure is granted to individuals who are actively engaged in ministry but are still in the process of growing and developing in their calling. It serves as a formal recognition of their commitment and progress in ministry.
Key Benefits: Licensed ministers receive more extensive training and oversight than affiliates. They are recognized as ministers in their respective capacities but may not yet fulfill all the requirements for ordination. Licensure is often a step towards ordination.
Commitment: Licensed ministers are expected to continue their education and training, demonstrate ministerial effectiveness, and adhere to the ethical and doctrinal standards of the association.
3. Ordination
Purpose: Ordination is the highest level of recognition, reserved for those who have proven their ability to lead a ministry, fulfilled all educational and experiential requirements, and are prepared to take on the full responsibilities of ministry leadership.
Key Benefits: Ordained ministers are fully recognized as leaders within the Pneuma Ministerial Association. They are authorized to perform all ministerial functions, including sacraments, weddings, funerals, and other rites. Ordination often signifies a vocational calling to ministry.
Commitment: Ordained ministers are expected to lead with integrity, continue their personal and ministerial development, and provide mentorship to others within the association.
In summary, affiliation is a form of connection without formal ministerial recognition, licensure is a focus on development and training and ordination is a full recognition of one's calling and capacity to lead within the ministry.
